Today I Am

#TodayIAm - doing it my way!

Fashion for me is all about having fun, ignoring all the so called fashion rules and doing it my way, If I feel like wearing a giant pink pom pom dress like the one I wore to fashion week recently - well then I'm going to do it. Likewise if I feel like pairing a basic tee with a fine silk floral print skirt - well I'm going to do that too! I don't believe in fashion rules, never have and never will. I always wear what makes me happy and for me that is bold bright colours, mostly pinks, and all the accessories all at once. Some so called fashion crimes I've committed over the years include - socks with sandals - check! Mixing prints - check! Wearing too many accessories - check! Being plus size and wearing horizontal stripes - check! There's many many more and there will continue to be many more as I ignore the haters and wear whatever I please. I just love dressing up and playing with fashion way too much to ever stop. The creative process of slowly collecting all the right pieces for that perfect dream outfit is what I live for - shopping at markets, op shops, designer sales and yes even my local Westfield. Today I am doing it my way just as I always have and always will. I'll never stop being me and I hope that I can inspire you to experiment and play with fashion too.

I love me a good turban and this Mimco scarf was too pretty to resist and I love how it looks with the amazing blue clear framed sunnies by Le Specs from Glue.

I love the beautiful botanical floral print of this Gorman skirt so much, I want to own so many pieces in the 'Birds and Bees' print from the new SS15 collection but for now have settled on this stunning pink silk skirt. Of course the pink is what sold me on this piece.

As someone who doesn't have their ears pierced I just LOVE when a brand offers up clip on earrings in it's collection. These Mimco blue gem clip on earrings are so elegant and sparkly!

Hello pom pom keyring! You had me at first sight and I just had to style you on my new white Mimco pouch bag, jazzing it up to make it more me!

Thank you to Westfield for bringing me on to this fabulous #TodayIAm campaign, I love the concept behind it - being true to yourself and who you are! Kelly Osbourne is a great style ambassador for the brand, I'm very excited that Westfield is celebrating unique personal style and style at any size - both of which are my passions! Let me know in the comments your thoughts xoxo

Show Day!

If you follow me over on instagram or snapchat (fashionhayley on both!) then you'd have seen that I went to the Royal Melbourne Show on Saturday night with a few of my friends. When I found out there was an after 5pm ticket for only $20, half the price of the full day I decided I just had to go this year. The show is an Aussie tradition, every city has one, as do lots of country towns. It's full of rides, animal shows, fireworks, food and drink tastings, craft and baking competitions and showbags which are themed bags full of chocolates and lollies and novelty toys. The Royal Melbourne Show is basically a big country fair only in the city. As a kid the show is a magical place, full of fun and wonder. Well now as an adult who hadn't been in maybe 10 years I can safely say it's lots of fun for us too! HELLO cocktail bar in the Winning Tastes Pavilion. Yes I managed to get pretty drunk and fall both into and out of a ride getting in and out of the cart, you see it kinda swayed and well I just tumbled out, face planted then rolled down the metal entryway, a very embarrassing moment and I have a lot of bruises from that incident. Luckily I didn't spew after all the cocktails followed by roller coasters but I did forget to take more photos other than these just of my outfit, sorry about that but I was just having too much fun. I'm definitely going to go back next year, maybe for the full day because 4 hours was just not enough time to see and do everything.

Ice Cream earrings Doodad and Fandango

I wore my new favourite Gorman dress, I thought the fun patches print was kinda ideal for the bright lights of the show. I love the fit on this dress, I'm really loving wearing more tight fitted clothes these days - a cute hint of my belly and curves. I think my belly looks really cute so I'm really into showing it off, reminds me of a Bei Bad Girl drawing.

I love my new Kanken backpack! I got it in the peach pink colour as the blush pink which is more pastel has been sold out for months and I couldn't wait any longer. I'm loving this one so much that I think when the pastel is back in stock I'll buy it anyway because this bag just fits so much stuff and is so lightweight and cute and well pink haha!

Blissed out and hyper on too much sugar in my very fitting and super cute Doodad and Fandango ice cream earrings! Oh what a super fun day!

Arid Garden

Skin care is a relatively new obsession for me, especially as I'm heading deeper into my thirties (yikes what, how did that even happen?) I'm desperately trying to reverse the damage caused by the sun, thank you to living in Australia! I am lucky that my skin only really gets hormonal breakouts around that time of the month so I don't really have to worry too much about those, but I do have some light scarring from my teenage years. Also wrinkles! Let's talk about those little buggers slowly creeping onto my face. My forehead is actually heavily wrinkled, I think it's from squinting all those years I didn't have glasses but needed them. Luckily I don't have to worry too much about those because they're hidden under my fringe haha! I do worry though, and I like to slather it up with night creams, moisturisers and daily sun protection! So when the folks at Activeskin got in touch with me to send over some samples I was very excited as I love testing out new skin care products to see what will and won't work on my skin. Activeskin is your one stop shop for all things skin care and below are my top pics from their vast range!

The perfect daily cleansing foam that works brilliantly with my Clarisonic. Removes excess makeup, oil and dirt for a really deep clean and is frangrance free which is perfect for my sensitive skin!

Lightweight and oil free this moisturiser is great for those with oily or combination skin as it combats oil whilst also moisturising the dry areas.

Sunscreen is such an important part of your daily skincare regime, I never leave home without it. I love this sunscreen as it doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky and greasy afterwards which makes it perfect for under my makeup.

I swear by my Clarisonic, have been using it for nearly two years now and see an incredible difference in my skin. However mine is the plain old white one, seriously considering upgrading to the pink because we all know what pink means to me!

Me and my newly refreshed skin went on a fabulous outing to the beautiful Arid Garden in Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens on the weekend. Cactuses, unlike your skin, don't need a whole lot of water or care in order to thrive so it is kind of an ironic place for a photo-shoot about moisturising haha!

However my dress was covered in this beautiful cacti print by local Melbourne label Rouda that I picked up at the recent Magic Designer Sale. Sign up to their facebook page to find out when the next sale is on, but basically it's a twice yearly sale of local designers old season stock. I always find something amazing at the sale, this year I bought the Poms Jewellery ring and bangel in this post as well as the dress and I spent a total of $180 which is a bargain considering the dress alone was originally well over that at full retail price! I do love a bargain!

Giving some good skin thanks to Activeskin!

I found this cute little lilac backpack whilst in Noosa at the end of last year for $10. I regret not also getting it in the pink but I'm pretty sure I'll find a cute little pink backpack in Tokyo next month (I'm headed there after Vietnam, eeep can't wait!). My new Poms ring and bangle are so cute they kill me!

Still getting much wear out of these seriously comfy heels. Definitely taking them with me to Tokyo!

Hello from Hoi An

If you've been following me over on my instagram or my snapchat (fashionhayley for both) then you'd know that I'm currently in Vietnam with my bff Lauren and hubby Henry. It's been so hot and humid that I've found it hard to take photos during the day as that's when I'm at my most sweaty (not a good look, trust me!) Luckily Hoi An comes to life at dusk with all the pretty lanterns turning on and the streets crowded with street food and night markets. As I was taking these photos for my blog this lady came up to me and forced me to hold her bananas for a photo for some money, I don't know how she carries that thing on her shoulders all day it's pretty heavy! Hoi An has so far been one of my favourite places we've been to in Vietnam, bike riding around the old part of town filled with tailors or beside rice paddies with Water Buffalo roaming free, getting dresses and coats made at the aforementioned tailors, eating delicious local street food, visiting the beach or swimming in my resort's pool - it's been a lot of fun. That was until today when I saw a snake slithering up the path right in front of me at my hotel. I'm absolutely terrified of snakes, and it's the first time I've ever seen one outside of a zoo type situation and yes I do live in Australia! Anyway I saw it and immediately ran in the other direction back towards the pool where Henry was reading on his pool lounge. I jumped onto his lounge chair and started crying hysterically that I'd seen a snake. The staff at the hotel noticed that I ran and came to see what was the matter so I told them I saw a snake and they started looking for it, calling over the manager and other staff. Guess where they found it? Right beside the lounge chair I was sitting on, so I jumped up and onto the edge of the pool as they kicked at it and made it leave the hotel grounds. They told me they couldn't kill it because of their Buddhist beliefs, which is fair enough, I am a vegetarian after all, I don't want it killed either, just no where near me would be great thanks! Apparently it was harmless and not poisonous, but to me a snake is a snake I am terrified of them no matter what, it's not exactly a logical fear. It was kinda hilarious that it was me the snake slithered in front of then chose to sit next to - the girl who is absolutely bloody terrified of snakes - it was all my worst nightmares come to life!

The tailors couldn't believe how colour coordinated I was. It's just a happy accident that all my beloved brights match perfectly. I am absolutely in LOVE with this Julie White 100% silk Pavlova print scarf. It's the most beautiful print all designed and made in Australia. To top it all off Julie is an absolute sweetheart who I met at the recent Finders Keepers Market which is one of the best things about art and design markets I think, meeting the people behind the designs. I've also been wearing my Kitsu Bloom Hoop earrings in baby pink all the time! The designer made me clip ons and you too can make a special order of clip ons if you need, which is always a bonus. I love pairing the scarf and earrings together, I think they look so cute as a twosome. I actually filmed a packing for two climates video over on my youtube channel, explaining how my bright wardrobe does all work together and how I'm packing for my three month trip, one month here in hot and humid Vietnam followed by two months in Tokyo during winter with snow!

In front of the Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An, such a beautiful spot.

Hoi An is breathtakingly beautiful!

The Japanese Covered Bridge must be seen to be believed, so beautiful!

As pushy as these candle sellers are they really are stunning at night to see floating down the river.

I will miss your lantern covered streets Hoi An, until next time xxx

Tokyo Swan Boat

Ahh Japan I love you and your love of all things kawaii. Where else will you see Hello Kitty road work signage? Or a super cute alien bunny rabbit called Pipo-kun as the mascot for the police? Or hot pink swan boats? I found first discovered these swan boats on my first trip to Tokyo back in 2003 (back before the internet was useful so I really did just stumble upon them with no help from google) and I've loved them ever since. There are lots of swan boat locations throughout Japan but these are my personal favourites located in Ueno park. I knew that's where I was heading that day so I wore a cute pink outfit to match, getting squeals of "kawaii" from Japanese people passing in other boats made it all worthwhile, lol. Whilst in Hoi An Vietnam last month I had the local tailors make me this cute pink coat. I had wanted a more pastel pink colour but this was the closest that they had available and I'm kinda happy it's a bright pink now - it stands out more. Hoi An is famous for it's tailor made clothes, if you're going to Vietnam I'd really recommend visiting Hoi An and getting something made and staying in the town as it's honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

I bought this bag during my one night stop over in Kuala Lumpur on my way over to Tokyo from Vietnam. After nearly a month of virtually no shopping in Vietnam as our days were filled with beaches or exploring temples, discovering I had booked a capsule hotel located within a shopping mall in KL was quite the pleasant surprise. It sounds sad but I almost cried when I saw this cute bag in the store window. I guess I missed shopping? But guys the bag is amazing - it has sequins inside the clear pocket part that MOVE AROUND! So yeah my tears were justified - it's a thing of beauty lol.

I bought this dress on my first shopping day in Harajuku at the Super Lovers store in LaForet, it was just too cute to pass up. Every time I wear it I get Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls stuck in my head.

Snapshots from Vietnam

I'm kinda failing as a blogger recently/always. I always plan on taking lots of amazing photos and blogging heaps when I'm on holiday and then what happens is once I'm there I just want to live in the moment and experience everything for myself and not sit down and edit hundreds of photos. I also had planned on vlogging my Vietnam trip but my travel companions weren't comfortable with being on youtube so that plan was quashed right away. I don't know how other bloggers/vloggers do it to be honest. Anyway I decided to share with you some of my fave snaps from my recent Vietnam trip. Above is Henry and I trying out kayaking for the very first time in beautiful Halong Bay.

So incredible!

I wore my Julie White scarf as a turban basically every day in Vietnam. Can't wait until I'm back in Melbourne for summer to wear it again (currently in freezing cold Tokyo for another month, not that I'm complaining as I love it here too - just wanna wear the scarf again!)

Take me back!

Daikanyama Punyus Kicks

One of the first things I did when I got to Tokyo was hit up Punyus, which if you've been following my blog you'd know I am obsessed with. Punyus is basically Japan's only fashion forward plus size store. It's not really all that plus size though, it goes up to about an AU 20 which is a USA 16 depending on the item. They have four sizes - size 1 which is like an AU size 6-8, size 2 which is an AU 10-12, size 3 which is an AU 14-16 and size 4 which is like an AU 18-20 (for the equivalent in USA sizing just minus 2 from each, UK sizing is the same as AU). I picked up these wicked tartan culottes that I'd been eyeing off in their online store as well as the cute white shirt I'm wearing and a Narutomaki jumper which I've shared on instagram. Above the ankle culotte style pants are a huge trend over here in Tokyo right now for winter teamed with cute socks and flats. I'm not a big pants wearer but I couldn't resist giving these a try and I'm glad I did, I got stopped in the street for photos a few times in this outfit - follow my snapchat @fashionhayley to get a glimpse into my daily life here in Tokyo and maybe you'll see just how often that happens (If I manage to remember to snapchat it haha) I guess I stand out with my pink hair and bright clothes?

This shirt was actually just a plain white shirt from Punyus. The cut is really nice, it has these puffy sleeves I love but didn't photograph for you. Anyway I felt it was just too plain for me so I collected a few iron on patches from vintage stores in Koenji and had a little DIY session in the morning before meeting my friends for lunch in Daikanyama. It made me 10 minutes late but was oh so worth it don't you think?

My flower ring and heart ring are from Paris Kids, a store in Harajuku where all jewellery and accessories are Y324. Well guess what? They now have an online store that delivers worldwide!

My Fjallraven Kanken backpack is still coming in handy this trip. They seem to be popular around Tokyo too, I'm always spotting them.

I will never stop loving these old season watermelon socks from Gorman! They look so cute paired with my pink brogues and red tartan pants - my new obsession is red and pink together.

Milling About

I'm currently in beautiful Tasmania for Christmas as my mum moved down here about two years ago now. She lives in a small town close to Launceston, however my flight landed in Hobart because of plans that fell through so we had to drive the 4 hour journey from Hobart to my mum's house which meant we stopped off along the way. Our first stop was Oatlands, a picturesque village which wikipedia says is "considered to have the largest number of colonial sandstone buildings in any town in Australia" which probably is true as there are a lot! The main attraction of the town is Callington Mill which was built in 1837 and is the only mill of it's type in operation in Australia. It's a pretty place to explore with a cafe, garden and their own brand of flour made on site! To be perfectly honest with you I didn't wear this outfit on the plane, but as we had my suitcase in the car and the location was so stunning I made a quick outfit change in the car and my mum took these snaps for me.

Such a pretty spot!

I'm so in love with this dress and the whole Camille Walala for Gorman collection. I used to live next to a huge Camille Walala mural in Fitzroy, in fact I used it as the location for outfit photos in the past. I was pretty bummed to miss out on the collection's launch whilst I was in Tokyo and the chance to meet Camille in person but oh well, these things happen. I was hoping and praying that the pieces I loved wouldn't sell out before I got home as I wanted to try them on before I bought them and I'm so happy I was able to get this dress, it was apparently the last left in my size in the state so I was very lucky. I just love the print and the cut, it will be great all summer long and then paired with tights and my pink leather jacket for winter - YAY!

My mum really got into the photography haha.

These Kitsu earrings are my LIFE right now. All Kitsu jewellery is hand made ethically in Melbourne. These earrings are the thing of dreams. The designer was able to make me specially made clip on ones as I don't have my ears pierced which was so lovely and I wore them daily in Tokyo to many many many complements.

Jumping In

Why hello there blog readers, so sorry to have neglected you for so long. I feel like I say that way too often recently, but in my nearly 10 years of blogging I don't think I have ever gone so long between posts. A lot has gone on in my life recently, a whole lotta changes. If you've been watching my snapchat (fashionhayley) or following my instagram then you'd know what Henry and I split up for good whilst I was in Tokyo. After 14 years together he broke up with my via facebook chat (!) but truthfully as horrible as that was to go through it was a long time coming and for the best. Also the way he did it made it a whole lot easier to move on from because honestly if someone can be that horrible to you after 14 years then are they really worth crying over? I don't want to waste any more of my life or energy on someone like that, and luckily 2016 has already shaped up to be an amazing year for me in terms of growth, my blog and work and also for friends and family and it's only mid Feb! I started the year with a bang at an incredible warehouse party in Fitzroy full of my friends and it's been a non stop party ever since. Single Hayley started dating and having fun. I found an amazing like-minded housemate to move in, I knew she was the right one as when we skype met she was wearing earrings I also own! I also have started an amazing job working for a top brand's online team and I absolutely love it. Seriously, just one month ago all these things seemed impossible, I thought I'd never find a job, would have to move to a sharehouse or maybe stay with family as I was left with no furniture when Henry moved out but somehow it has all come together so perfectly I have to pinch myself. My life is almost as perfect as this amazing Gorman jumpsuit I picked up at their recent sale. How freaking incredible is it? I basically died when I tried it on cos hello how perfectly does it fit me?

Wondering around Daikanyama I stumbled across the most amazing boutique - Harcoza. They sell independent Tokyo jewellery and clothing designers, all of whom are amazing. I fell in love with these earrings by Hokuro and had to go back to buy them because they just wouldn't escape my brain. They get compliments every time I wear them - totally worth it!

I was so obsessed with my soft pink Maude Studio bag I just had to get the bolder brighter hot pink too. This bag is just so perfect for my "throw everything in except the kitchen sink" lifestyle of carrying all the things all the time. It's like Mary Poppins carpet bag - it just fits everything in it with room to spare. The cute tassel was a gift from the lovely people at Frill and Frank and I absolutely adore it. The perfect little something to jazz up your bag.

200 Years of Australian Fashion at the NGV

200 Years of Australian Fashion opened at the NGV the other week and I was there to capture it all. Honestly it's an amazing exhibition, I wish I blogged it sooner but I've been working full time and sick on and off with tonsilitus, so just way too exhausted to sit down and edit photos and write. I need to be in the mood to blog and I just haven't been feeling it. This year marks my 10th year as a blogger and whilst I love all the opportunities my blog has given me I must admit I'm going through a little bit of bloggers block. My life has changed so much in the last few months, I lost my "instagram husband" (who was obviously more than just that to me) which has made taking outfit photos kinda difficult. So that is why there has been such a huge break between posts. I have a lot of content to come though so stay tuned, but for now let's take a look inside this fabulous exhibition.

The exhibition spans from the 1800's through to now with some stunning pieces on display.

The always incredible Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson in their Flamingo Park themed room in the exhibition. I am a long time fan of Jenny Kee and the fact that she knows my name and once phoned me blows my mind haha.

Another iconic Aussie designer who knows my name is Jenny Bannister, again this blows my mind, and also oddly I have also spoken to her on the phone.

Dion Lee.

Romance was Born next to Discount Universe. Some of you who have followed my blog for a while will know that Nadia and Cami of Discount Universe are old friends of mine and it was so lovely to catch up with them at the media preview. Love their work and how far they've come and it's just so exciting to see where they're headed.

So incredible.

Twoobs with my bff!

When the lovely sister duo Jess and Stef from the wildly successful How Two Live blog messaged me to ask if me and my bff wanted to each have a pair of their new shoe line Twoobs I jumped at the chance. The sister's have a pretty similar aesthetic to me - bright, fun, colourful and playful with a love of high platforms and their new shoe range reflects that. My bff Lauren, otherwise knows as Laurie Luxe, is a HUGE fan of orange, just about as much of a fun of the colour as I am of pink so it was perfect that the shoes came in both our favourite colours. Twoobs are made with besties in mind, you can never have too many shoes or friends. However I'll only ever have one bestie, Lauren means the world to me so it was great to be able to share something with her from my blog. Thanks Jess and Stef (。♥‿♥。)

Picnic at Hanging Rock

Last weekend I went on an amazing road trip with a guy from tinder (lol) down to the Macedon Ranges, staying in the nicest hotel room I think I've ever stayed in as it had a huge spa with an amazing view out over the mountains which you can see over on my instagram. The next day we woke up and got brunch in Woodend before making our way over to Hanging Rock for the day. I was still a little sick from my bout of glandular fever which had flared up my asthma so I was only able to climb up to the halfway point but that was beautiful enough. I wore my new (to me) Kuwaii dress from the kinda recent Magic Designer Sale which I thought would look stunning beside the rock formations for my photos, and I was right!

Purple Rain

This year is my 10th year of blogging, which is actually crazy to me. I can't believe that it was 10 years ago, on September 1 2006 that I began this blog. As the anniversary draws ever closer I feel myself reflecting on what an incredible 10 years it has been, although it really doesn't feel like it's been 10 years since I moved to Tokyo and had the best year of my life. The years following saw my blog grow in ways I never expected nor could have imagined when I first began, and my life change in so many ways over the years, which is especially true of the past year. There's been so much change recently that I have been neglecting my blog, but I'm hoping to change that now and post more frequently. These photos were actually taken over a month ago but the outfit is still a firm favourite. I love all the purple hues that bring the look together.

I actually wanted this dress for ages, as I actually saw it in one of House of Holland's Tokyo stockists late last year but they only had size 8 in store. I finally took the plunge and bought it when ASOS had a sale around Easter. So yeah I've had it a little while now but only just getting around to blogging it.

I'm slowly adding patches to my vintage denim jacket I bought in Tokyo. Can't wait until it's fully covered.

I got my first ever tattoo recently by my friend Tessa, an apprentice tattooist doing amazing work. I feel bad that all I wanted was a small love heart on my index finger when her beautiful botanical flowers are where it's at, but who knows I may still decide to get one of those, but for now I am content with my cute little love heart, a nice reminder to love myself after the tough couple of months I've had. Btw how awesome are my pom pom eyelashes by Shu Umera I picked up in Tokyo?

I adore this Tokyo bangle by Sydney design dyo McKean Studio. It features all my favourite elements of Tokyo, from swan boats to Tokyo Tower and Mt Fuji. Wearing it brings back so many fond memories of my favourite city in the world.

These Elke Kramer x Gorman collaboration flatforms are just so freaking incredible. Purchasing them was a no brainer. It started to rain at this point in the mini #ootd photo shoot so please excuse the droplets of water - not ideal or professional blogger looking at all.

Long Lost Tokyo

These photos are actually from late last year whilst I was still in Tokyo. My friend Yalei took them for me while we were out shopping in Harajuku on one of my last days, and then somehow with the madness of my last minute packing to come home I lost the SD card that these photos were on. That is until today. I am so happy to unerath them as they're such cute photos of a really fun outfit from a really fun day. I can't believe that it was nearly a year ago that I was over there, and that this year for the first time in a long time I'm not going over. 2016 has been a big year of change for me as you all probably know, but I am definitely making plans to head back to Tokyo in 2017, for now I have these photos to remember it by.

I was staying in a guesthouse with no iron, oh the creasey nightmares.

I was trying out Igari makeup, which was and maybe still is the most popular makeup trend in Tokyo. Basically it is all about under eye blush. Forget contouring, try Igari! Created by top Japanese makeup artist Igari Shinobu, the original inspiration for the look was hangovers, this season it is gaijin baby (Caucasian baby) with even more blush! You see it everywhere, especially around Harajuku. It's meant to make you look youthful and doll like, what do you think? Personally on me I feel like it makes me look old and like I have some kind of rash. I think I'll leave it to the girls in their late teens and early twenties from now on haha.

I got my nails done at Beautik in Laforet in Harajuku. I think it's a really cute idea, just doing the ends, plus it can last a lot longer because it already looks grown out to begin with.

Pink Snow

Yes it really does snow in Australia! I know it's hard to believe maybe for my international readers but Australia isn't permanently in the midst of a heat wave, we do actually have four seasons and in my part of Oz we have a pretty chilly winter. It doesn't snow in the heart of Melbourne but you can drive for about two hours and find yourself in the midst of a beautiful white wonderland depending on the direction you go. My friend and I headed to Mount Donna Buang to see the snow for ourselves and had a pretty fun time making snow balls and throwing them at each other. The snow season is sadly now over for another year, but I think I'm going to try and make the effort to go every year from now on.

My blog is 10 today!!!

Yep that's right, today is the 10th birthday of my blog! My first ever blog post was written on the 1st of September 2006, a pretty cringe worthy post as for some inexplicable reason I decided to use a red font, however it is a pretty cute post full of excitement about moving to Tokyo in 18 days and how I planned to document my year living there on my new blog. Little did I know that I would go on to document the next 10 years of my life here at Fashion Hayley (my blog was originally called Fashion Hayley Hits Japan - does anyone remember that?) You can see my blogging style has changed a lot over the years as originally my blog was just about my day to day life living in Tokyo and not really about fashion at all, at least not how fashion blogs are today with epic photoshoots and very little personal information. I do miss the old way of blogging sometimes, I definitely miss reading blogs and feeling like I knew the person, these days there is very little to read on fashion blogs including on mine, but the social media landscape has completely changed how we connect, now I have snapchat and instagram for the more everyday stuff (@fashionhayley on both) and I use my blog to express myself creatively in what I wear and the locations I shoot in rather than to document my life as such.

I can not believe that this little blog that I started in my bedroom in Fitzroy to document my move to Tokyo and the year I spent there would take over my life, becoming my job and taking my around the world and across Australia with it. I am so amazed that it has been 10 years, it feels like only yesterday. My blog has seen me move to Sydney and back to Melbourne, get flown to New York, go to Tokyo countless times and attend lots of fashion shows and openings over the years. I've been asked to write a column in a top fashion magazine, featured in three books and lots of magazines and worked with some very amazing people and brands too! The best part however has always been connecting with my readers, getting lovely emails and messages from you guys or getting stopped in the street which always blows my mind and makes my day. I wouldn't be where I am today without you so I thank you all for following me on this journey for the last 10 years.

Here's to another 10 years!

I bought these amazing fake eyelashes whilst in Sydney at my favourite little Asian beauty shop in Chinatown, they have a pink stripe on them. Big Kid at Heart

Luna Park in St Kilda has always been one of my favourite places. I have fond memories of riding the Scenic Railway rollercoaster with my mum as a kid and infamously (in our family) proclaiming "this is radical mum!" as we went down the first drop as she sat there quietly terrified and fuming that my dad had chickened out of going on and left it up to her. Sadly the Scenic Railway wasn't open yesterday when we were there otherwise I would have gone on as it is one of my all time favourite rides in the world. I love how rickety it is and that it is still operated by someone standing in the middle of all the carriages to manually apply the breaks. It was built in 1912 and is the oldest continuously operating roller coaster in the world, which makes it pretty bloody cool in my opinion.

Every expert on thrifting and shopping vintage always has the same advice - don't go in looking for a specific item because you will leave empty handed, always go in with an open mind. Now I don't actually think that is terrible advice but this pink coat proves that it's not always true. I went to the coat section of my local Savers looking for a pink coat and this was sitting there in my exact size as if it were waiting for me. It definitely was an opshopping miracle, but it goes to show that if you are after that specific piece you may very well be lucky like I was. It was also something ridiculously cheap like $7. Such a lucky find!

Naomi Murrell is an Adelaide based label who had a pop up shop a couple of months ago at the now defunct Limedrop store. I picked up this super cute gingham dress there and have been wearing it all winter. I have always been obsessed with anything in classic black and white gingham, and I think paired back with pink it looks super cute.

These Gorman flatforms have been on my wish list for so long. They were in a lookbook released last year but then never seemed to go into any stores. There were lots of rumours on Gorman buy sell facebook pages as to why this was the case, apparently the pink section was very easily scuffed, which doesn't really bother me all that much. It appears they went into stores very briefly before being recalled and on one of those same Gorman buy sell facebook pages recently I saw someone post a pair for sale and I snapped them up right away. Obviously it would be great if they don't and up scuffing but they're so beautiful I don't actually mind.

Rainbow Brite at The Show!

After I had such a fun time last year at the Royal Melbourne Show I was extra excited to attend again this year. If you follow me on Snapchat (@fashionhayley) then you would know I may have had a little too much fun as I posted one too many drunk videos of me and my friend screaming on roller coasters and inside the haunted mansion. It was so much fun I even went back a second time, taking advantage of the after 5pm cheaper ticket and taking a date with me and my friend. Well drunk Hayley may have proceeded to do the most embarrassing thing of all time that night, I made my date and I facebook official when it was only our 4th date! Oh my god, waking up the next day to messages from family and friends congratulating us and asking so many questions, I have never been so mortified. I promptly deleted the facebook post but I don't think I will ever live this one down. Honestly though it was pretty bloody hilarious.

To be honest I rarely buy clothes from Sportsgirl any more but when I saw my friend and super hot babe Flossylox rock this two piece on her instagram I was in LOVE and knew I had to get my hands on it. So when it went on sale I swooped in and snapped it up. I got so many compliments on it at the show, I love how bright and in your face it is.

Remember in my last post I wrote that I'm a big kid at heart, well here is the evidence - me having the best time on the carousel.

So beyond obsessed with these earrings. Doodad and Fandango can and will make you clip on's if you ask nicely. LOVE when a jewellery label can do that for me ✿♥‿♥✿

I 100% recommend supporting small indie designers over buying mass produced pins. I regret buying these from Sportsgirl but one thing I do like is I don't mind losing one as they're so cheap, so wearing them on all the rides I never worried one bit.

I recently sold my previous more orange colour Kankan backpack that I adored simply because I was able to get my hands on this more pastel pink one. These backpacks are so durable and comfortable and they can hold oh so much. I used my last one all throughout Vietnam and Japan and it was still as good as new. I can not recommend them enough!

Pink Panther

Upping my pinkcore all pink all the time game with this 100% pink look. I bought these happy and sad face pink Lazy Oaf pants at the start of winter from Save Yourself Shop in Fitzroy but quickly discovered they're more suited to warmer weather wear so they were pushed to the back of my wardrobe during the colder months. I was so excited to be finally able to wear them out again now that it has slightly warmed up here in Melbourne, and even more excited as I now have this awesome DIY pink iron on patch denim jacket to pair them with!

This is my latest DIY project, the instructions for which are over on the City Chic blog. Essentially I dyed a white denim jacket pink then ironed on some cute patches I had collected then hand stitched them in the corners to firmly affix them to the jacket as I sadly lost one the first time I wore the jacket out. I bloody am obsessed with this jacket though, it's the perfect lightweight jacket for spring and now looks super cute and personal and it gets never ending compliments.

Boom it is suddenly so hot in Melbourne that you sweat out of places you didn't even think were possible, so out comes my mini skirts and bare legs combo so I can get through the day. It's always such a shock to the system that first day of non tights wearing to see your legs in all their pasty white winter glory out on display. I love this retro floral print skirt I picked up for $20 from the Clear It pop up outlet store on Swanston Street, I am really vibing retro floral's for this Summer and am on the look out for true blue vintage pieces but this modern take will have to do for now. It reminds me of this awesome wallpaper that my nana used to have in her kitchen when I was growing up. Her whole kitchen was orange, black and white with this bold retro floral wallpaper along one wall, it was very very cool. I bought my Comme Des Garcons t-shirt on my last trip to Tokyo but only just discovered it buried in one of my drawers - which reminds me - I am having a HUGE WARDROBE CLEAR OUT at the Evelyn Market this Saturday the 26th Nov from 12pm - 6pm. How freaking AMAZING is my new Tropicana rainbow pink, peach and yellow hair by Blondies of Melbourne? I can't believe how much like a Calippo icypole my hair looks.  I have always loved playing fashion games, from playing with paper dolls as a kid to a Barbie CD-rom game when I was a bit older, they've always been lots of fun to me. Obsessing over matching details, finding the right shoes for the occasion and getting my characters hair and makeup just so is a fun way to spend an afternoon if you ask me. I was surprised to find there there is a wide variety of free online fashion games at Poki, but of course my favourite has to be Shopaholic Tokyo. I mean how could I not love it when the opening paragraph basically describes me, why yes I am good at shopping and I do love to party, how did you know? ✿♥‿♥✿

The game doesn't look like any Tokyo streets I've ever seen but the shops and styles available inside do look pretty much exactly like Tokyo. You'll find modern Harajuku style kimono's, Gothic Lolita looks, high school uniforms and punk rock styles all feature. The challenge of the game is to dress your character in the correct style for an event.

My first challenge was Lolita style, so off to Sweet Rose I went in search of the perfect Goth Loli ensemble to win the round.

Of course I went with pink. I collected all my finishing details at the shops along the street and got ready for my close up.

When you've completed your look a street style photographer comes and takes your photo - just like in Tokyo!!! I won my round so I took home a $500 prize and accepted my next challenge - a high school girl style challenge. Follow my snapchat to see what I created @fashionhayley.
